Benjamin Rose and Senior Citizen Resources Join Forces to Expand Support for Older Adults in Old Brooklyn
CLEVELAND, OH (June 26, 2025) – Benjamin Rose and Senior Citizen Resources (SCR) are pleased to announce a strategic merger that will strengthen and expand services for older adults in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood. Effective July 1, 2025, SCR will become part of Benjamin Rose, a trusted leader in aging services, and its senior center will be renamed Rose Centers for Aging Well in Old Brooklyn.
This partnership reflects both organizations’ shared commitment to providing high-quality, accessible programs that support aging with independence and dignity. By uniting resources, expertise and operations, the merger will ensure the longevity of vital services while fostering innovation and sustainability to meet the evolving needs of Cleveland’s older adults.
“Senior Citizen Resources has served as a lifeline for older adults in Old Brooklyn for decades,” said Orion Bell, President and CEO of Benjamin Rose. “We are proud to welcome SCR into the Benjamin Rose family and continue its legacy of care, trust and community.”
The merger comes at a critical time, as rising operational costs and a changing funding landscape create challenges for local service providers. By integrating with Benjamin Rose, SCR gains increased stability and capacity, ensuring that essential programs—such as home delivered meals, social engagement and wellness activities—will not only continue but grow stronger.
The Home Delivered Meals program, a valued service for many in Old Brooklyn, will continue without interruption under the Benjamin Rose Meals on Wheels program. Delivery schedules will largely remain the same, with some minor route adjustments made to enhance efficiency. Benjamin Rose is committed to ensuring the same friendly, reliable service that participants have come to know and trust.
As part of the merger, transportation services previously provided by SCR will transition to Senior Transportation Connection (STC), a long-standing, dependable transportation partner of Benjamin Rose. STC provides door-to-door rides to medical appointments, senior center activities, grocery trips, and more—ensuring older adults in Old Brooklyn have safe and reliable mobility options.
A dedicated transition team is actively managing the merger process to ensure a seamless experience for all participants, with a focus on transparency, communication and uninterrupted service.
“Change can bring questions, but our message is simple: our commitment to serving older adults remains stronger than ever,” said Liz Hernandez, Executive Director of Senior Citizen Resources. “This merger allows us to do even more for the community while preserving the relationships and trust built over many years.”
